セント・ラサール大学バコロドキャンパスは、ラ・サール兄弟がフィリピンに到着し、マニラに最初の学校を設立してから約41年後の1952年に開校しました。
バコロドで開校してから70年以上がたった現在も、ラ・サール会（De La Salle Brothers）の教育理念に基づいて、質の高い教育を提供し続けています。
セント・ラサール大学には、大学および大学院で約13,000人の学生が在籍しており、幼稚部から高等学校までの附属施設では約2,300人の学生がいます。
学部プログラムには、文学と科学、ビジネスと会計、工学、教育、看護、法学、そして新しく開設された医学部の7つの学部が含まれています。
大学は2001年以来、高等教育委員会（CHED）によって完全な自治権を与えられています。これは、現在のフィリピンの優れた私立大学の中で、わずか30校に与えられる資格です。
セント・ラサール大学はこれまでに、会計学・法学・教育・看護・電子通信工学、および化学工学で優秀な学生を輩出しています。
2002年5月の会計学の資格試験の結果によれば、大学のプログラムは10〜25人の受験者のカテゴリーで全国一位にランク付けされました。
